My heart is full, but alas!
Words refuse to spill,
For it’s not me to empty the heart, but to ease the mind.
What do you say, dear friend?
Ok — I’m taking a break for a while.
Zzzz… zzzz…
Meditating, I fall asleep. Why does this never happen when it’s actually time to sleep?
Here I am, wanting to spill the beans — the ones I’ve treasured over the years —
and instead of keeping me alert, my mind puts me to sleep.
But this time, the mind’s trick isn’t working.
For I’ve put it to sleep — so we can continue, uninterrupted.
Yet it’s found a way to defeat me, dearies.
Amidst my win, I can see your eyelids closing.
Sweethearts, it’s reaching out to you now —
shutting you down, to break my will.
If it can’t stop me from spilling my beans, it’s ensuring they don’t reach you.
So, sweethearts, please stay awake.
For this two-liners may be lost in the melee:
Do not lose your heart to the mind,
For the mind tricks you all along —
Telling you that you are right, when all the while,
You only speculate the wrong to be right,
And bargain love for hate,
Wisdom for illusion.
The loss of the heart to the mind
is like love lost in speculation —
of the right and the wrong.
